Re:Inter-racial marriage, and the priesthood

Of course the issues are all related as you are seeing. Jean-Bertrand Aristide did not start his presidency with a proper awareness of the issues; he started with his Judeo-Christian concepts, and later on started seeing some of the deeper racial/historical issues. He would have gained a better insight after seeing the effects of the deals he made with the US in order to get back in power, and after seeing how vicious the White Haitian elite in consort with the US and France became after he raised minimum wages and demanded reparations.

By then with little financial support he was not in the best position to ensure the masses were well informed. Like most Blacks who get political power without a fair understanding of the deeper historical issues, he was unable to really motivate and build the grassroots who are the first to risk their lives for/with them.

These are the issues that we now have to work out to ensure that future alliances are made on a more solid foundation. The job has to start with how we make personal alliances and then extend to a more critical evaluation process for broader alliances. The Caribbean is littered with these Christianized politicians who don’t get the depth of these issues, and upon attaining political control they casually accept the elitist trappings.

So while I am defending the rights of the ordinary Black Haitian people to their political solutions, which included the leadership of their choice. I am acutely aware that those who are now seeing the depth of these issues can become improved leaders.

They have to be willing to motivate the poor with information that is pertinent to their situation, and no more pandering to illusions of some ‘divine authority’ outside of themselves that will come and fix the situation for them. When they stand correct for themselves then they will see divine help. But they must first see it in themselves.

People have to work out these issues by first examining all the arguments until they are at peace with the solutions, and only then can you inspire many more.

When they are uplifting the people from the perspectives of the Black African historical awareness, then they are standing on a solid foundation.
