Re:Inter-racial marriage, and the priesthood

One! Sak Pase?

I just had to add that the arrest of Yvon Neptune is sad indeed. He did not run he stayed to face the consequences even though he went into hiding for awhile when during the installation of the interim government. This government is illegal since it states in the Haitian constitution that after the ouster or coup of an elected government a new election must take place within 90 days! that's 3 months and it's been more than that.

Moreover, what does this all have to do with the strivings of a black middle class elite leftover from "papa doc" Francois Duvalier and his noirist or Afro-centric gangs and the sruggles of the masses of folks who are not lettered and poor? I believe that this issue is strongly connected to that and regionalism. Latortue is from Gonaive something he says over and over in practically every show that he hosted on L'Invite on the Haitian Television Network and then again in many of his speeches since he took the job as Prime Minister.

He is trying to associate himself with the Emperor Jean Jacques Dessalines who was the fighter hero of the Haitian Revolution "Koupe Tet Boule Kay!" we are grateful to him for doing what he did and gaining our freedom in spite of any wrongs that he may have committed later. Latortue also seeks to bring the nation back to a more gentile time when French was the language of society and he goes to great lenghts to forge a relationship with French Speaking Kofi Anan (head of the United Sanctions a European controlled organization) and the Canadians. Latortue wants the status that Ayiti had during the 17th century when it along with Dominican Republic known as the Hispaniola island, made France the richest European colonial power.

They will do this by any means necessary and this means getting rid of ex-priest (Aristide) who married a mixed-raced Haitian American woman (Mildred) and Yvon Neptune who married a white Canadian woman. These black nationalists maintain their position by simultaneously serving the whites and by abiding by the one rule-no race mixing and anti-poor.

The fact is that I may not agree with Aristide and his prime minister for spouting one ideology and living another. The preach anti-poverty and self-determination but they can't seem to attain it through black pride and self-love. Is it because they lack the resources-namely money?

I have so much more that I could write but I feel that these issues are compatible with some of the ones discussed on this board by others.

Blessings and Respe!
