What doesn't make any sense is that the whole idea of less government to regulate isn't consistent with the idea of "tort reform." Some of the consistent "libertarians" have made the case that the ability to sue is very important in a free society where government is "not meddling in our lives."
This is how we know that the corporations who hide behind the tea party are not serious about "liberty" - only their own liberty at the expense of everyone else's.
