Re: Zimbabwe: Speedily regularise informal sector

In my opinion I am being quite objective. You are not. You and Masimba Musodza are not mindful that you are engaging Diasporan Africans who are supposed to take positions that are in the best interest of all Africans (Continentals and Diasporan). You cannot be objective when you do not present the history of what is taking place for evaluation. You want your views to be accepted on the claim you are from Zimbabwe. That is hardly being objective. I know many people who lie about the state of affairs of their countries. Masimba Musodza explained to us how lawyers in the UK encourage Zimbabweans to lie to get refugee status.

He said: "The sort of people who come in to Britain are young men and women mostly of middle-class background. They only become refugees because the immigration lawyers are telling them that that is the only way to not only stay in the country but also get benefits like housing etc. For at least £1000, one get refugee status."

So clearly we cannot just believe people because they claim to be Zimbabweans.

You also said: "Rhetoric about how Bush and Blair have caused problems in Zimbabwe is responsible for non accountable nature of government officials who have a ready scapegoat."

Whom do you think you are fooling with this empty line? Countries that promote European/American interest above their own do not go through severe hardship because their leaders are brutal and corrupt. They are given token rewards, usually high interest rate loans just barely enough to get by, for exploiting their country to economically enrich Europe and the United States of America. These misleaders will continue to be 'rewarded' until their natural resources, that these European powers want, are exhausted, or when they try to stand tough against European/U.S. interest.

But if you are trying to play down or obfuscate the fact that Bush and Blair planned the present economic hardship in Zimbabwe, then in my view anything else you try to present is not based on reality.

Masimba Musodza also said:
"It would be best to leave African causes to African people.
Zimbabwean causes are also best left to Zimbabwean people. "

If he believes that, then why is he on this board trying to sell his Zimbabwe views to Diasporan Africans?
