You have a true understanding of the issue, and this transference does not occur by happenstance it is orchestrated.

It is played out everytime a young black athlete leaves home and goes off to college. There are few college campuses located in African neighborhoods. The student athlete is housed with a "white" family, and on campus his classmates are predominantly "white." His teachers, his coaches, etc are in all probability "white." What this does, is create a divided loyalty in the mind of the young and impressionable. At home during school breaks he probably has to deal with something close to chaos, he then returns to the serenity of the college campus. That amount of wisdom and will power required to overcome these challenges is unfair to expect of someone so young.

I heard a telling story about a visiting football team from T&T. The organizers of the competition between the host nation and the visiting players gave a ceremonial welcome party. A friend of mine who lived in the same city was invited by one of the players, a childhood friend. On his arrival he was astonished to discover that the only faces of color present were his and the members of the T&T football squad.

It is the same regardless of the endeavor. From the little Afro-American genius, to the reggae musician on tour. The sponsors, promoters and organizers are overwhelmingly "white" and their job is to ensure that the money does not stray too far from its source.
