The onus is on you to walk and speak what you know while not pandering to the ignorance that may come from any side, be it black, white or any shade. You should also encourage other people you know to join these types of discussions. They would come with their own complexes, be it superior or inferior. If their intention is to learn they will learn and if they choose to remain arrogant and ignorant they would leave.
There are proper history books but maybe not in sufficient schools.
