Re: Western Arrogance, indeed
In Response To: Re: Western Arrogance, indeed ()

Yes I Ayinde, I overstand what the I is saying. I have no particular axe to grind, and I make no distinction between who is a moderator or who is a peer. I have seen what I consider outragous behavior and comments as well. I was making a point with this issue alone.
As I see it, the brother Rootka posted a statement proclaiming we should not blame all of our problems today on slavery and imperialism (which still do exist to my eye, and are indeed the root causes of many of today's problems) and try and move forward and unify. He saw the condemnation of entire races as a divism practiced and was chanting a little unity. But brother, even you might see posting this up as a point of ridicule in that is was likened to "western arrogance" is a little much, no? This would seemingly ignite the peanut gallery (which it did) and alienate a Rastafari bredren who posted his thoughts here for discussion.
We can reason on an intellectual level, but we must set the tone. Since it is called Rastafari Speaks, lets let the Rastafari speak. To condemn HIM as a despot and a tyrant here in the presence of strong Rastamen and sistren, well, if that won't illicit some hot fiyah, I don't know what would. It is not up to us to instill some sort of doctrine or uniformity to Rastafari, but to argue from an intellectual standpoint against ones religious beliefs is an exercise in futility.
Since this is also called Africa speaks, lets reason on what we can do to help the situation, not re-hash all the root causes again and argue over the merit of anthropological studies from Babylon are a wicked thing. But I for one wouldn't see the problem with people of all races speaking truthfully how they understaqnd these things. It could only further a just cause. evel.

But back to what you said....no I didn't wish to examine the sister Bantu-Kelani on a personal level, since all I know of her and you are what you type on this site. So what I took issue with were the words. Ones shouldn't expect no heated responses when dealing with such hot issues. But at any rate, I appreciate the response and InI look forward to more sound reasonings here.

Bless
