Re: Lightskinned Blacks not knowing Black fathers?

Hotep Pianke Nubiyang

I give thanks for your important intervention and points you raise.

You say: "Regardless of how 'pleasant' some British people think they are on race relations -- if they are using Black men to create a 'mulatto' class, they they are just as racist as their cousins in the US and South Africa."

True none of us on either side of the Atlantic should be getting complacent. Race relations in Britain is just as much a folly as in the States but just looks and feel different, but it's the same thing. White/male/supremacy racist prejudices that half the people don't even realise they still have in their system. It is so natural the first they say/think is "I'm not a racist but...." Any 'pleasantness' of British race relations is just hiding a festering inequality underneath. Be sure to know that in the UK Bredrin and Sistrin are just as aware, strong and vocal as SoulJAH's in the US or elsewhwere. But also just like the US there are ones who still choose to bury there heads and pretend like everything hunky dory with the 'massa'.

Just like colourism in the US, in the UK the elephant in the room of the black community is the fact that some (too many) black men are not in the lives of their pickney, light AND dark skinned. And just like colourism in the US this is a legacy of the MAAFA and white supremacy, but is still something we need to be honest about, address and change from within our communities. This is not about solely a picture of white female man traps as you describe it. Yeah that goes on, but this is as much to do with the lack of self knowledge & strength these black men have (legacy of the Maafa). They look for validation in going with and breeding up white women, but then don't have the strength of character to take any responsibility, and the child gets cast adrift in a colour struggle, and as you rightly say, this mullato offspring is being told that black people 'this & that' by their white family, but with no black father to show them different or defend that position as positive examples then how that ever going to change?

The solution you give is: "It is time for Black man and Black people in Britain, the US, the Caribbean, Africa and elsewhere to stop this mixing foolishness."

Well I personally know that but mixing is SO rife and 'normal' over here that that message won't get anywhere as the first line of battle. I'm here with my pure black wife and my 2 pure black children, (I'm Bajan heritage, my wife Jamaican heritage - both African! LOL). But that solution is easier said than done unless we confront the elephants in the room and be honest about what is going on. There are many strong black/white relationships and marraiges over here where the black man has knowledge of self and teaches the mixed race pickney to be be proud of their black self, (sounds confused I know, but no irony). I personally know that way isn't for me but I can't judge that. But there is another trend of man breeding up and moving on just for the hunt. No wonder then that nothing positive would come of that for the black community.

On this thread I never disputed the importance of discussing colorism. But for me there it too many woods & trees so again have to withdraw and Reason about these many seperate important issues in a clearer thread. (Not completely seperate as of course as they are all related, but to tackle any one of them properly and effectively we need to be clear about which aspect we are discussing at any one time. That is why I needed clarity on this thread.)

Hotep.

I give much thanks for your Reasoning.
