there are some cultural counter measures already in place, at least from my experienece, in keeping light-skinned privilegde from becoming an acceptable rule of black life. one is to do exactly what is being done here which is calling it to mention as often as possible but before that, these are the pitfalls which must be taught to "brite" children at
a very young age, so they can begin to deal with the implications of recieving such priviledges based on having a lighter skintone. right now what i see in such a bling bling commercial, avaricious society is every man/woman for his or herself, get what you can while you can for as long as you can get away with it. in this enviorment, it would be hard to be believe that parents would tell lightskinned children not use their "talents" in achieving their paper chase. in the old days one could hear folks say, "when you get up there, pull somebody else up"........yes but who ? and pull up to where?
