Greetings in the Power of the Trinity, Haile Selassie I, The Almighty!
Many within the family has inquired as to the specific ailment (medical terminology) or cause for Congo Rocky's hospitalization. In our call to Shashemene this morning (12/5/08 @ 1:30 a.m.) we were given more precise details on the cause of the Elders ailment and his current progress.
Congo Rocky has been suffering from a build up of Uric acid that has crystalized in his system and has caused the inflamation in his feet. He also developed gout.
On November 21, 2008 he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot from his left leg which was more severely affected. He was given further details as to the cause of his ailment. It is a build up of excess protein in his blood over many years and through the over consumption of fried foods/oils peas and dried beans.
Congo Rocky's surgery was successful and he his making incremental progress in his recovery, the swelling of his joints has been reduced however he is still in the early stages of his recovery and is still unable to walk on his own.
The doctors has recommended continued treatments to rebuild our Ancient's mineral and vitamin levels. IDOR will continue to monitor the Eldr's progress and keep th family informed.
We will keep the family posted on any and all new developments and the most accurate information, pending our own personaldiscussions with the medical officers in Shashemene.
I MAN has attached additional medical information on the causes and effects of Uric acid Crystals (see info below)
Menstuff® has compiled the following information on Uric Acid Crystals.

Uric acid is a substance that results from the breakdown of purines or waste products in the body. If the body increases its production of uric acid or if the kidneys do not eliminate enough uric acid from the body, levels build up (a condition called hyperuricemia). Hyperuricemia may also result when a person eats too many high-purine foods, such as liver, dried beans and peas, anchovies, and gravies. Hyperuricemia is not a disease and by itself is not dangerous. However, if excess uric acid crystals form as a result of hyperuricemia, gout can develop. The excess crystals build up in the joint spaces, causing inflammation. Deposits of uric acid, called tophi, can appear as lumps under the skin around the joints and at the rim of the ear. In addition, uric acid crystals can also collect in the kidneys and cause kidney stones.
Giving Thanks for Life and Strength!
