If it was as I speculated, why is that hypocritical. Doing it out of love for his mother. A slight compromise perhaps, but not hypocrisy.

Bob is not God, he shouldn't be immune to criticism, for eg. he didn't always treat Rita too right... but ya know he was human like all a we and had his faults, was conditioned by the society he grew up in, etc.

It's few people indeed that's made as much of a contribution as he has though. He lived his life for the people not for himself.
