"Hurricane Ivan Batters Grenada; Takes Aim At Jamaica"

MIAMI, FL, Weds. Sept. 8: Hurricane Ivan increased in strength to a category four hurricane and was last night aiming to hit Jamaica, having spared Trinidad and Tobago and St. Lucia its wrath but directly hit Grenada and St. Vincent.

Forecasters said last night the hurricane could hit Jamaica later this week. "There is a very strong possibility that we could get a direct hit because the current track would take it (Ivan) directly over Jamaica," Evan Thompson, the head of the Meteorological Office's weather branch, told the Jamaica Observer last night.
