"Forgive us, says Germany"

A TOP German government official on Saturday asked for forgiveness for the killing of thousands of Namibia's ethnic Hereros during the colonial era.

The tribe immediately invited Berlin for dialogue "to finish the unfinished business".

The interchange came at a ceremony at Hamakari marking the centenary of imperial Germany's brutal campaign to crush an uprising by the Herero people.

"We Germans accept our historical and moral responsibility and the guilt incurred by Germans at that time.

Good post!

The Germans must not only apologise, but must also pay, and pay dearly(!!) -- meaning (also that): so-called "Namibians" of German descent must give up the very large fertile lands expropriated from the Maherero and other Afrikan peoples during the (deliberately instigated) war of 1904-1907 (and even before and after these dates). The Germans -- (and basically all other white people, including their churches and politicians) -- are always ready to show how sorry they are for what the crazy nazis did to the Jews, but always become uneasy when examples such as the German Imperial army's attempted extermination of the Maherero people are mentioned, as long as black people are mentioned! Indeed, it was the first case of genocide in the 20th century, and the famous nazi word "Konzentrationslager" (or German for "concentration camp") was first used in official German correspondence between General Lothar von Trotha (assigned by the Kaiser to exterminate the Maherero and steal their land) and Berlin just before, and during, that war. It was the first time that word appeared in German literature of any sort!

This continued denial and the self-defence mechanisms employed by whites of many nationalities, in short, clearly show European hypocrisy and cunning mentality at its worst. People still think blacks or Afrikans are there to serve them at their feet! … To give a good example: Hundreds of frustrated black Afrikans demonstrated with angry banners outside the Reichstag/Bundestag (German parliament) sometime in late June this year for the Maherero cause, and were very ridiculed for doing that by many German passers-by, ignored by most, given no protection by the German police, almost attacked by a few right-wing crackheads and given a deaf ear by the German Bundestag and German press, which is very unusual in this country for such a demo. This may well show how the general mentality of these people is still entrenched in old stereotypes, nazi rubbish, plain hatred and outright racism. I think to most Germans/whites, black Afrikans should have nothing to complain about; rather, more to be "thankful" for … (colonialism and brainwashing). That has been my experience.

How sick!
