Rastafari Speaks

Re: Can one be a follower of Selassie I and not be

Greetings,

As far as I have seen it it is only really Rastas that you would say are FOLLOWERS of His Majesty in that sense of the term. (I only use the word 'Follow' as that is how you phrased the question.) But not all of those Rastas have locks.

But there are plenty of other people I have met who KNOW the divinity of His Majesty and KNOW His greatness and light, but who wouldn't still identify themselves as Rastas for whatever reason. They leave the actual trod of being a Rasta up to the dreadlock Rasta.

And then, as SelassieLive said, some followers of His Majesty would describe themselves as Christians through the Ethiopian Orthodox faith. And I've some of those with and without locks.

In simple terms - His Majesty's legacy shines through any and every barrier and label of identification.

Blessed Heart.

I give thanks to JAH Rastafari for these few words, on this which is my Naphtali day. Sometimes I have to really ask myself, 'What is it that really makes me a Rasta?', and I don't always know how to answer. I just am. It is all about the heart. Not about the label.

Blessed Love.

Ras Shawn Naphtali
