Instead of looking at the main character (Isaach de Bankolé) as a sex starved “lone wolf”, take a double look at who the target is – the Man in Control and what happens when his controls are questioned and effectively countered. In one scene the main character is asked by a group of children if he was an “American Gangster”. To which he replied “No”. Also look at how various individuals assist in the ‘assassination’ of the controlling, bald, bigoted, wig-wearing Man played by Bill Murry.
