Haplotype L0 is one of two branches of the most recent common ancestor who according to Euro-Science lived in East Africa about 150k-170kya; a convenient theory because according to Euro-Scientist modern man also originated around 160kya in Ethiopia; in the form of Herto Man.
The problem with that theory however, is their so-called "Bushman;" his MtDna is the oldest of the L0 haplotype and his home is and always has been in Southern Africa. Then there is the matter of the Balanta of Guinea who live quite a distance away in West Africa and share the same Haplotype; by their count around 11% of the population. Remember the Balanta, the inventors of that Balafon from a previous link within this thread?
