Interesting..
A large part of central Australia is a saltpan, comprising of two depressions and Lake Eyre is the lowest point. The north is 8,430 sq. kms, and the south is 1,260 sq. kms. It has 400 million tons of salt. (who weighed it I wonder) In the last 100 years it has only filled with water 4 times, this year and also as recent as 2007.
