The term is chilling in so many ways; but expected and probably more apt than we recognize, because we fail to appreciate its Natural Genesis. What are the talking heads always ranting about? A Moderate Democrat or a Moderate Republican no true conviction, just a fence-sitter. Its what 'We the People' get for subscribing to an ideology that is Median, Mediterranean or Semitic. We discussed this in the past, did the ideology preceed the people or did the mindset of a people spawn the ideology?
Think of what the Creation myth says, everything was created in its place, and it was good. Things got bad when something became mis/dis-placed; as in a female human mating with a creature who looks human but SLOUGHS like a SNAKE. We may never know what created the metamorphosis; a catastrophic 'Change' which could have also resulted in physical displacement, or just nature running its true course, which would mean that one of Nature's creatures didn't think her creation was all that good, at least in their case, sowing the seeds of covetousness.
Either way, the onus is now on those who still have a place, through 'Providence', divine or otherwise, to accept or reject the 'Prodigal' and all that it entails. With the recognition that the choice is between Providence and Prodigality, no shades of grey, no 'MIDDLE' ground, no ambiguity or human emotion, just good old non-judgmental 'Natural' selection.
