Actually the Bible created the problem in the first place. The flood story is ubiquitous among ancient cultures, merely adhering to one culture's version has put us in this place. The Greeks' flood and catastrophe legends have been relegated to myth and remain there to this day; and we have not even begun to speak about African 'myths': Lets not kid ourselves that the choice to accept the story of Noah was not based on 'racial politics.'

So as recent as 33kya the river stopped at what today is known as the Sudd; probably the origin of the name Sudan; this of itself may not appear note worthy unless you had knowledge of an Old Chronicle of Auritae Princes which lists reigns dating back to almost thirty thousand years.

Scientists say that the Sahara's changing climate can partially be attributed to the earth's axial tilt and claims that the last shift occured a mere 10-12kya. Coincidentally that's the age range for the end of the Last Glacial Maximum; it also closely aligns with Hapgood's theory of Magnetic Pole shift as well as the time frame for the Maori flood legend and Plato's Atlantis legend.
