ok, I will bite.....

I think it is understandable, especially when you consider the enormous amount of pressure in the situation. 2 billion television viewers, a very tense and passionate match etc. Ideally, to me, being an adult means that you should be able to weather such things, as dignified silence is generally a much more eloquent response to idiocy. That said, there is a counter argument that any grown man who says things like that to another simply because of a preumption of protection from retaliation is a coward, and should not be all that surprised if there are consequences. At least that is the case in the culture that I am part of. I cant imagine what would happen if you sais that sort of thing to someone on a street, or worse still in a pub.

Justifiable.... well I honestly think only the two gentlemen concerned have enough information to make an informed decision on that one.
