Many have different views on this subject.. yes, RastafarI is rooted in the black struggle, so therefore it should be the duty of all Rastafari to work for the upliftment of Africa and Her people. This goes for all Rastafari, no matter their skin color. But reality is that there is no way to create doctrine of how Rastafari should be or who can or cannot sight Sellassie I. This has it's negatives and positives.
Already, 80% of black people in America have white in them. As far as what "should be"... it cannot really be a reality in this time, America has already been established and the mixing of races has already taken place. SO now there are many mixed people. There are no villages of strictly black Rastafari in America that I know of, and it would definetly be difficult to have a guard at the gates checking the background of a mixed person and deciding whether they are welcome or not.
Yes, the concept of "racial purity" is blessed. But it is not reality. And given the reality of the circumstances in the world, I must agree with Ras Adam, the mixing of the people is beautiful.. it cannot be fought as it is not in any one person's control. So therefore, let it be the breaker of the racial lines.. maybe one day everyone will be a shade of brown.
But JAH knows that humans would find more reasons to divide and rule even if InI all looked the same color.. there has always been segregation and it is the psyche of man to label and organize in the mind according to what is seen with the eyes.
So instead of what "should be".. why aren't ones reasoning on what IS and how to deal with the issues at hand for humanity? There will be no peace until there is justice... but there will be no justice until it is realeyezed that justice is not for one man alone. There have been many oppressed peoples. And all oppressed peoples must fight in the struggle. In no way does that take away from the most serious and neglected raping of Africa as Africa is InI FIRST love as She was and is first of Creation. It is a matter of shared overstanding and where ones are at mentally that label themselves Rasta. InI are blessed with the gift of discernment so it must be used in this time to work with the right people with the right intentions.
