Special VISA (Diversity Visa)

Yow people!!!,

What do you people think of the new Visa schemes in America that attracts and traps talented individuals from African countries ?

The US gives visas to persons with 'special abilities'. Which means that if you are a diplomat with intimate, sensitive information; an athlete in a sport that generates multi-billion dollar revenues; a scientist who has info on rare diseases and techniques that Americans ordinarily wouldnt have; or an extremely brilliant strategist, you can walk into an airport without ever visiting the embassy to get your visa!
The sad thing is that in addition to draining these professionals from other countries, the US often doesnt use them to their fully potential. I know of a physician in Atlanta who never got a license to practice, and has to throw newspapers every day to make a living. Another African I know had to join th earmy to fend for his family, before he was accepted as an academic faculty in a school of medicine which is barley ranked in the states. A lot of our highly skilled nurses are working in homes for th elderly and disabled, doing menial tasks that often have nothing to do with their high specialization.
Luckily enough, cries are being raised in diplomatic circles, about the unfairness of this recruitment strategy. Maybe in a few years, we will begin to see changes.
