Re: ***Why do you call my people "Semetic"?***

Bantu-Kelani,

Could you please stop calling my people "Semetic" as I am sure you mean it in a deragotary way. Most of the Habesha people honestly do not even know where they came from and who their ancestors are. As most of the Habesha people are illiterate. All they know is they have been there for thousands of years. I do not believe there is any Habesha who do not consider themselves black even though they may acknowledge their features(face) maybe look different than let us say someone in West Africa. But this does not make us less black because of our features and maybe the kinkyness in our hair is different than other Africans. By the way Habesha people also come in all shades and different hair texture form really kinky to wavy hair.

How one distinguishes us is by our features, but please do not crucify us because we may look a little different. As for mistreatment by the Habesha people of other tribes such as the Oromos, Wollos etc...it has to do with the history of wars and fueds that have lasted for thousands of years. Non of it is racial and can not be because one can not hate oneself. As a matter a fact within the Habesha people there is hatered based on regions and tribes. Habesha people include part Oromo, Amhara, Tigre, Tigrinia, and Tigray, Asawrta and may be few others that I am not familiar with. Within the Habesha tribes there is deep hatered and we often use deragotary names to describe one another. For example a Tigrinia person may call a Tirgray person Agame(meaning begar and equivalent to the N word here in the west) these are two tribes who are like first cousins. Another example the Amhara call both the Tigrinia people and the Tigray people Tigre in a way that shows that they are more sophscticated and better than the two tribes. During the struggle for liberation Eritreans especially Tigrinia people refered to Amhara people as donkeys and animals. My point is if tribes of the Habesha people who are one people can not get along imagine trying to get along with a totaly different set of people. An Amhara hates a Tigrinia or Tigray people more than the Oromo people believe me when I say that and vis versa.

But it is not racism it is tribalism do you understand what I am saying?

With Unity comes progress,

Love One,

RasHal
All the peoples of the horn are related to each other by blood. There had been a lot of mixing in the earlier periods as one tribe would invade another and take the women of the defeated tribe as a prize to become their wives or mistresess. This created an amaglamation of the tribes of the region. A lot of the Oromo of today look exactly like a Habesha and this is no lie. We the Habesha people will not deny that we have a Semetic blood but we are fully aware and know that for the most part we have a strong and dominant Cushtic blood in us as well.

Bantu-Kelani if you want to use Ethiopia as an example of tribal disunity then I welcome that because I know it exists there as it does in the rest of Africa. But please do not call us racist towards our own race for that is not true.

Thank you for reasoning,

RasHal
