Re: Question: Guns and Violence
In Response To: Question: Guns and Violence ()

Blessed,
I can't say I have the solution to physically manifest the extinction of guns and violence, it's a heavy situation with many aspects. But I do sight the youths as key to the development of society. The music that is fed to the youths, especially the youths who stay in places where violence is an everyday aspect of life, plays a huge role. Take a look at the top rappers of today, the biggest being 50 Cent.. and he is who all these youths look up to as a rolemodel. His songs are speaking of losing faith in the Almighty and putting his faith in his gun, sipping bub and being a PIMP. These lyrics are running through these youth's minds all day everyday. But these rappers are also talking about the situations the youths face everyday, like sighting shootings and violence, so the music makes them comforted and gives what (to them) is an understanding of how to deal with their feelings on the issues. Being that a lot of drugs and neglect surround their lives, a lot of times they are lacking the most important key to their upbringing.. Love. So when more serious love and guidance is spread unto the youth, that is when the guns and violence will cease. And one idea of how is through their music... hip hop has got to be more conscious on the radio.
Give thanks for the reasoning
