America has build a world empire, starting at the end of WWII starting WITH a welfare/warfare state where the richest paid a good amount of their income to the state. Just because the richest are willing to pay more taxes says nothing about what kind of trajectory the empire will take . . . it's not stopping, it's hell bent on world takeover. Stupid framing of the real issues IMO. Is it realistic to keep running the empire on debt forever because the rich aren't paying enough in taxes, no . . . but that's a logistical problem of funding, not anything about the kind of things that are being funded and for what ends.
