There is no reason to doubt that Big Pharma isn't behind this 'research' all one has to do is sniff out the evidence that they have found a way to turn this knowledge into capital/profit. In this world where two of anything probably won’t even get you one, we all should be wary of the propagation of information and its source.
Likewise your observation on the contribution of our environment is perfectly valid; and it’s why I’ve always advocated the warm-adapted species vs. the cold-adapted species theory. But once evolution occurs (genetic changes), environmental adaptation would no longer enjoy primacy, the traits, behavioral or otherwise, become inherent, initially through natural selection but increasingly pervasive, through the eventually elimination of choice, as in the absence of diversity. (see Tay-Sachs disease)
This lowered rate of environmental adaptation has already been scientifically proven with the revelation that equatorial organisms, due to increased solar radiation enjoy/suffer a higher evolutionary rate (adaptive radiation) than their counterpart in temperate or polar climes/zones. Proof enough to support a theory of evolutionary stagnation or diminution in the case of our Neanderthal or Denisovan cousins.
Understand that I am not here advocating the extermination of the non-African; I’m not suicidal, but with clinical retrospection, the choice to become a mother has attained new significance.
