Those predominant cultural assumptions are very recent in comparison to history.

The Moors head that you mentioned and the Roman/Catholic Black Madonna come to mind.

White male supremacy (or at least the doctrine of Afrikan inferiority) was really only concocted a while after Columbus's voyages. It was a way to appease and class stratify the euro masses...same as today's neo-patriotism and tea-partyism in the US and Western countries in general which is fueled by polarization, xenophobia and ethnocentrism against muslims/911. Its actually a subliminal psychological warfare against ANY non-whites.
