ayn rand is incorrect. a person does not just owe his/her ideas to his/her individuated mind. and neither does wealth creation come solely out of an individual's lone self effort. this is a myopic view of reality. the individual does not exist in a vacuum - whether we are aware of it or not - we owe our lives and our ability to live to those that surround us. furthermore and on a deeper level - we owe our very ability to live and the "wealth" we create to the earth. while seemingly an a-theist, ayn rand is guilty of secularizing the monotheistic vision of reality which posits that it was solely god's will/ego that is responsible for creation - she only transposes this thought pattern to the "individual" - man alone is responsible for anything worthwhile and man only owes that which is worthwhile to his own thoughts and intellectual property.
