Some people assume that Ma'at is some set of cushy benign rules that apply only to human behavior, specifically the story of how a person's heart is weighed against the feather from Goddess Ma'at's headdress and if the person loses out, they are tossed to the devouring god Ammut.

Its not so much that there was rules violations of Universal balance. It is just the nature of Nature to mediate. Mediate means middle. So Nature is always working to bring something extremely high back down and something extremely low back up.

A civilization is an accumulation of people in the proximity of life-giving provisions/resources, most likely water and fertile ground. However, those provisions/resources are not unlimited. Neither is harmony and peace when a hierarchy has been established. Hierarchy does one thing that is guaranteed. It causes those on the shorter end to develop animosity. That is why whenever you have and empire, you have a guarded domain (castle) and soldiers to protect the elite. That is because hierarchy is a challenge to our natural overstanding of mediation/ma'at. We know that nothing is supposed to dominate another. That is why in lessor hierarchized cultures there is not so much conflict and war.

I don't mean to get long-winded but there is much in the archives that touches upon this subject. Lets just say an empire and/or civilization is the same as life. Life like anything in the Universe follows cycles. The cycle always has a birth, death and resurrection. The Master from your videos explains to us how Osiris represented the "forgiving" (4 giving) of the cyclic continuation whereas Seth represented the stagnation of preservation. Yet it is Set who is associated with destruction and degeneration. Point is that it is not a simple story. It is a complex overstanding of the cyclical natural process of reality. Because the process of the cycle is "good", we cannot just say that Set is "evil" seeing how vital his impact is on the entire process. We will sight that dwelling/fixation on any singular component in lieu of the whole is what manifests evil and folly and oppression, both internal and external.

To clarify and correct myself, it is really misconstrued to try to define something as good or evil anyway because those terms are subjective.

Good weather for an Eskimo is a bit different than good weather for a Bantu.

To develop the reasoning, let me ask you first to define an empire. And explain how an empire could be "ma'atic", if you would.
