Makes you wonder why the leader of such a nation (ample water and energy supply) would seek the approval/friendship (diplomatic relations) of the nation which in the past, attempted to destroy it.

Do you think it was immediately apparent to developing nations and economies contemporary with the decline of the British Empire that the British Bulldog had become a toothless mongrel?

Guess we're not all hard wired for vigilence.
