"Virtue" and "manly" superiority
In Response To: Re: Virtue and "Manliness" ()

*******I think the idea of the virtuous woman and what makes a woman virtuous too comes within a cultural context. *******

And a culture can be a breeding ground for the perpetuation of folly.

IF the definition of virtue is used in the context of being "manly" vs. being "womanly", it is a biased term placing emphasis/superiority of manly qualities and de-emphasis/inferiority of womanly qualities. AND it has the audacity to apply it to women in a supposedly positive light. In other words, you are a good woman if you are a manly woman.

Indeed as you say: ***despite our pretensions, the attitudes which uphold white supremacy are alive and well.***

Male supremacy is the nourishment that keeps it fed.

The common denominator of ALL oppression is the hierarchical demotion and subsequent culturally and religiously sanctioned inferiorization of the Goddess/Mother(wombmen) and the Feminine essence in general.

From the very first chapter of a book that was placed in my hands at a very young age, I read where a woman was the cause of all human misery and strife...and that a singular male omnipresence sent in his male son came to fix the mess.

The truth about the feminine essence is intimidating to males with inferiority complexes, specifically the ABSOLUTE procreative power within female hands.

The attack on the Mother of humanity, "Eve", is on two fronts. The first front is to establish the notion of women coming from the man in order to offer support and companionship, as a secondary and lessor divine thought. The second front is to demonize not only her VIRTUE-LESS actions but her thought process as well...her very nature. This serves to dethrone the Goddess/Woman from her shared place and elevate the God/Man as THE singular supreme.

That's a POWERFUL introduction to a lasting mindset.

It thrives because we have been con-vinced that it SHOULD exist, and because we have been instilled with fear, guilt and other mechanisms that prevent our questioning/challenging/resistance.
