i think the story was just worded this way to appeal to a christian crowd.... u could have replaced "the lord" and the "holy man" with anything u like for example, the wise man/woman and the pupil, the shaman and the apprentice... but the important thing is the message would still be the same.....
Question for u tho...in ur standards, at which point of a man's mental and spiritual evolution would he be considered a "holy man" ?
