Rastafari Speaks

My Name Is Kunta Kinte Sio, Do Not Call Me Tobi

In the year 1767, a young African man who was only 16 years of age, and who lived in the Juffure Village in Gambia West Africa, was brutally abducted, shackled, and taken aboard a slave ship, called the Lord Ligonier, by European slave traders and slave masters.

He was then brutalized across the middle passage and taken to the Western Hemisphere, where he was sold to a Virginia slave master in the USA, and was never able to see his family again, until he died here in the western hemisphere, just like so many millions of other African people.

The name of this brother was KUNTA KINTE. At the time of his kidnapping, he had just finished manhood training, and was helping to guard the Village at nights, since European bandits, were stealing African people on a regular basis, therefore, those young men who were trained, for the purpose of gaurding and protecting the village, were placed on guard duties on different shifts.

That early morning when he was abducted and shackled away, he had just come off night duty, and decided to go and find the right tree, to make this drum for his younger brother, which he had been putting off for a while, so he was going from tree to tree in the bush, in order to select the best try possible, but he was being watched through windows of the trees by the European bandits, and he made the mistake of leaning his spear against a tree, while he was examining another, that was when he was attacked by European criminals, shackled and kidnapped away, to the slave plantations of the western world.
He did put up very serious resistance but was over powered by the four bandits who attacked him.

All of the above activities were just racism being put into practice, but further racism was practiced against Kunta Kinte, because he continues to resist their slave trading activitiesm, during his life time on the slave plantations. He escaped several times and was beaten with the whip, but he was determined to escape, whenever he got the chance, but on his last escape, they chopped of his foot with an axe, which left him wounded for many months.

We must make sure we take care of our African women, because it was a black African woman on that plantation, whose name was Bell, who doctored and nursed Kunta Kinte, back to good health, and then became his wife and the mother of his daughter Kizzy, who was sold away, because she was able to read and write, and was raped by the criminal who bought her, and caused her to give birth to Chicken George. We must therefore be careful of how far we can go with the Europeans, they have hurt African people before, and they intend to hurt us again, if we allow it to be done. The journey of life continues. Take the best care of yourself and your people.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere.
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE.
Baba Ras Marcus.
