"Education in Great Britain is compulsory and free for all children between the ages of 5 and 16. At the age of 16 about 2/3 of pupils leave school and get jobs. About 1/3 stay at school until the age of 18."
I emphasize Great Britain because it is after all the country of the founding fathers; I wonder how they'll react to learn that their country is churning out more prisoners than educated, contributing citizens.
There was a riot, in one of those prisons California is famous for, last week. The news reports on the aftermath showed the violence and rage of the prisoners and I'm sure it left many believing that these inmates are exactly where they belong; what struck my though was the fact that fifty-five inmates had to hospitalized and treated on my dime, because the Prison Industrial Complex, operates much like all other big-businesses, the debt is socialized but the profits are privatized.
