Re: Nature, Wealth, and Money
In Response To: Re: Nature, Wealth, and Money ()

I am not sold on the Chinese continued cooperation in this waiting game. Much like we as a society should use, only, Sotomayor’s record to inform our perspective; only the past actions of the Chinese should inform our perspective, opinion or conclusion of what might be their next action. Consider that the Chinese $650 billion stimulus went to manufacturing and infrastructure; this should tell us that the priorities and the long term vision of the Chinese is quite the opposite of those of the U.S.

“And he observes that one unspoken reason that China has gone whole-hog on its massive, $650 billion fiscal stimulus program -- creating more factory capacity in a country that is already reeling from overcapacity -- is that the effort gives it cover to stockpile copper, oil, iron ore and other hard assets that it considers to be better stores of value than dollars.”

Infrastructure and manufacture spending will improve the lives of the Chinese worker, creating a consumer base that in short order will replace China’s dependence on the U.S. consumer, all the while, the Chinese are slowly diverting their investment from worthless U.S. Treasuries to hard Assets. If the U.S continues to hold to this notion that this present situation is likely to be indefinite, we’re in for a rude awakening.
