We all are aware of the need for an agenda, the question is what is the agenda? We need a clear plan to educate everybody in African history and culture, economics, agriculture, politics, everything. We have a lot of spending power as Africans, but we continue to distrust and avoid really working with one another as a community so our money rests in the hands of whites, Indians, Arabs and Asians, who know how to recirculate a dollar back into their own community, and use it to get some kind of marketable education. We should all buy black as often as possible. Our plans should run in 5-10 and 25 year increments with regular review. We need real to brainstorm on a worldwide source of income rooted in the work Africans could be doing together, whatever the industry. How do black doctors benefit balck people with their skills? Not by pimping out a Lexus is putting more money into Asian hands. As fly as you may look, you are benefitting some one else, this comment also applies to overpriced fashion clothing which Africans could be making. Money pays the bills and we can create jobs for ourselves if we buy from ourselves. Any plan for organization needs to address how we can either capitilize on the collective talents, or throw some money at some of Africans' problems which are too numerous to list. Also, African men, who are probably more liberal than most men, and African women who have been through a lot, have to learn to get along and raise these children right. I don't have kids, but I see a lot of children acting a fool with no consequences until it is too late. When I call the little demons in my neighborhood out for acting a fool, the parents want to fight you. I had to fence my yard in and put 3 vicious dogs it to protect myself from guess who? Other black people. I am tired of the crabs in a barrel attitude and the "I made it, I'm shutting the door" mentality. We all can do something to improve black people's condition. How about not trashing your community, so your community is more valued economically by all? I'm from Detroit, where this month it is the cleanest the city has ever been in 35 years of my life, because the Superbowl is coming to town, and we need to inpress all the white people for a day. Let's keep the city clean for the African residents who live here and make of habit of keeping it clean. Pick the trash up in your neighborhood and around your home, you have to live there after all. Poor does not have to mean run down and dirty, (OK, maintenance does cost money).
Africans also need to work on a moral agenda along the lines of the 42 oracles of Ma'at. We need to end the violence against one another and create a prosperous generation, stop cutting one another's throats for nothing. We need to wake up from the sheep mentality and the underlying tolerance of the criminal mentality in many of our communties. We need to respect family and community and instill discipline and respectful attitudes in our children. A lot of us need a basic common sense and etiquette class. I guess I could go on all day, I am not here to criticize, but to acknowledge that at times I feel all the gum bumping is a major waste of time while so many problems go unsolved. Every plan needs a strategy for implementation with dates attached. So I say, for the next five years, we need to work on economic cooperation and educating the youth of the impact and importance of economic cooperation amongst Africans. Let's start there. Everybody buy black at least once a week if you can. I say everyday, but we'll need to open some stores first, so y'all get to work.
