what influence do you think Ethiopia's trade with "middle eastern" and asian countries had on the development of the ge'ez language? If trade had some influence, then how can we say that the language was only a result of indo-european conquerors and not have something to do with cultural diffusion due to trade? Or - do you think this trade only existed AFTER these supposed indo-european people conquered Ethiopia and turned it into a trade center?
My only point is that the way you make it sound is as if the only reason that Ge-ez and later Amharic exists is because of an exploitive relationship between 2 cultures - I am coming from the perspective that perhaps this isn't 100% correct and perhaps there are other reasons for the development of ge'ez.
