In Response To: Re: Rootsie, you surprised me there... (I-Am-In-Hotep!)

Since my personal feelings in regard to Selassie in general have expanded somewhat, I can see where Rootsie is coming from. And feel she really nails it in the statement:

"In the 20's in Jamaica when people were desperate to resusitate black identity, it is most understandable, but today there are many great examples of African role-models, who put their lives and bodies on the line for the liberation of Africa, who did not have fine things and live in palaces, but hung close to the people, and suffered what they suffer."

Like most people, when years of a belief system are being rearranged to a more correct interpretation the disillusion is an adjustment we all can go through. In my opinion to view Rootsie’s comment as high and mighty-ism is grossly unfair. I more smell the scent of knowledge being expanded in an honest way, which few will put out there.
