Re: One Love
In Response To: Re: One Love ()

do imported spices with different flavors than the original and substituted ingrediants still make for the same dish though?

should we not strive to stay as close to the recipe as possible?>>>>i think a lot of the question on this board is>>>what is the focus of Rastafari?>>>in a way it is very hard to get to the idea without interaction with ones who are from the mother culture of Rastafari as it is a cultural phenomenon, yet many of those who are close to this root will not ever post on a message board and may never even come down from the hills.

so, we who post on the internet, I feel have a responsiblity to properly represent the ideas . . . it is easy to co-opt something and make it your own w/out giving back to the root. This I beleive is the core of many of the discussions on this board which touch the nerves of many.

Think about how many people exploit the Ites gold and Green for their own monetary benefit w/out giving anything back to the poor sufferahs of the ghetto in Jamaica whose families have been living Ras for a few generations. This is the face of white supremacy, taking something - making it your own, redifining it to suit, and taking "intellectual property" rights for yourself. When this process is revealed, some take it to mean that one is being "hateful" when one is really uncovering a process which remains occult(hidden) to many yet functions nonetheless and shapes our relationship with each other and the world at large.

Who is helping Jamaica? Who is helping Africa truly in this movement? And who is merely on for the ride on the back of the downpressed, EVEN if they don't realize it?
