Re: Rootsie, you surprised me there...

blessed love,
whoa!!!
i am wondering where the 'informed blacks' are in regards to these quotations attribued to 'rootsie'
----
'Looking at the list of all those medals got me thinking. Photos of him with European kings and queens and celebrities. Hobnobbing with European royalty and ruling-class types.'
++++
HIM is the King of Ethiopia. Irrespective of ones spititual views on HIM, he represents the Head of State. With this in mind, it is quite ordinary for HIM to hold conference with other political figures. 'HOBNOBBING?' it is direspectful and racist for you to say that His Majesty was 'HOBNOBBING.'would you say teh same about a uropean political figure who was meeting w/other heads of state. would u say that these white political figures were HOBNOBBING?'
====
'Then I wondereed whether he just ever hung out with the regular non-rich, non-royal citizens of his own country.'
====
have yiou ever seen His Majesty in the trenches
firing the cannon at teh uropean aggresors? a good friend of mine isaac haile selassie was adopted by His Majesty. information regarding the 'relationship that His majesty had w/ his countrymen is weel documented. seek and u will find.
++++++
'It is quite natural that kings will hang with kings, which beyond the issue of Selassie is my problem with kings.'
=====
your whole reasoning is problematic. have you ever had the responsibilty of running a country? modernising a country? instuting a constitution? defending a country against aggresive uropeans and arabs? until you have done any of the above-do not ass-ume what is 'natural for a king'
++++
'How well do they understand and take to heart the struggles of their people?'
++++
how well do you overstand the struggles of africans and Ras Tafarians. until you respect and overstand the plight of iani, you will have a long way to go in overstanding His Majesty.
++++
Rhetoric and speeches are one thing, and actions another.
+++
true, your rhetoric and words are repulsive, as well as your actions and speech(typed words) in this thread.
====
'I am thinking it ironic I am sad to say that ones who identify with the struggling people of this earth would choose to worship an earthly king.'
++++
do not be sad w/ the actions of IanI. deal w/your own salvation. those w/in the Rastafari faith will deal w/ours as iani choose.
++++
'In the 20's in Jamaica when people were desperate to resusitate black identity,'
---------
shall i say again: your words are the most vile type of white supremacist garbage. how do you, a white woman, know what jamaicans, in jamaica were trying to resucitate? are you that arrogant that you would presume to know their intyentions and ideals?
++++
'it is most understandable, but today there are many great examples of African role-models, who put their lives and bodies on the line for the liberation of Africa,'
----
you do not have the right to tell iani who our role models are. nor can you define who iani shall give thanks and praises to. should we 1st consult 'rootsie,' to find out what african leader we should 'look up to?' were you in africa when these africans were fighting for the liberation of the continent? did you put your life or body in the line of fire? if not-your argument is weak, arrogant, absurd, and a distraction.
+++
'who did not have fine things and live in palaces, but hung close to the people, and suffered what they suffer.'
+++
you seem to be one of whites who read 'national geography' and come to the conclusion that all africans should be running around naked, living in huts and dying of disease.
EVERY AFRICAN HAS THE RIGHT TRO LIVE WHERE THEY CHHOSE AND HAVE FINE WONDERFUL THINGS!! many whites have come to the conclusion that it is the fate of africans to suffer. you are sadly mistaken.
