Re: A Question of Phenotype - Part II

You said in another post that:
Wi were divided catergorized and labeled for means of control. Old vs young. Women vs men. Children vs family. And color: light vs dark.

So are you agreeing that the problem does exist? I too have read a lot of other posters bringing out the same info that you posted about the root of Racism/Colorism, in fact many were labelled divisive for pointing out that this is a problem. I guess many would prefer to kill the messenger rather than deal with the message.

You said
I say this because I know what it is like to have been on the receiving end as a dark skinned African Rastafai Woman.

If this is your experience then you would know that many Africans who may be fairer than you practice colorism. Many who deny that it exist are either 'comfortable' in their position or have chosen to turn a blind eye to it. It is important that people see it for what it is and let this discussion continue. If these divisions still exist there cannot be Unity, or 'One Black People'.

On another point, I remember a poster referring to another poster as a 'negro' on an earlier thread and many others supported this banned poster then. I remember clearly that it was a fair skinned person who called the other person a Negro so I guess that it was the double standards that I saw that also made me take more interest in this discussion.

I said that
Most times those who benefit from how this sick society operates really don’t want to see the structure even examined, which could mean that they may be ‘outed’. That is they may be tagged, because they may have secretly benefited from it.

This is why many choose not to engage these discussions.
