RASTAFARI: A POTENTIALLY POWERFUL WORLDWIDE FORCE

The World Rastafari Order and followers of the Rastafari code of conduct, beliefs and those who recognize Ras Tafari and the teachings of HIM (His Imperial Majesty) are a major force worldwide. The problem is Rastafari must move forward and start making the movement strong, effecient and effective at a time when Black youth and others have fallen prey to those who are using certain types of music and culture to slander, defame and destroy the character of Black people, conscious people of all races and those who do not follow the New-Nazi and neo-facist agenda that is being pushed on Americans and the world in a systematic manner through the use of the Media such as am radio and cable television.

REVIVE, REBUILD, REEDUCATE, RESTORE

Rastafari has to take a look at our youth and recognize that the duty of those who believe in Rastafari and those who believe in liberation and upliftment is to make sure that the Youth as well as those of us in our thirties and older do not sit aside and let the very same people promoting trash, hedonism and filth to our people over the fm radio stations and music videos to insult our intelligence on the am radio and cable television by pretending they are "alerting" the American people to the trashy, filthy "rap" and "hip-hop" that some sell-outs are promoting over the stations owned by the very same people who pay the neo-conservative, neo-facist talk-show hosts.

TRICKERY OF THE MOST EVIL KIND

It was not long ago that the very same people who dominate and decide how much trash and racist filth they would allow to be promoted to Black and other youth tried to destroy the positivity of Reggae and Niyabingi music by promoting the "dancehall" type of reggae over the conscous, self-lifting, positive music that was created by Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Desmond Dekker, U-Roy, I-Roy and other greats. For many years, while reggae was dominating and teaching the world, these folks who control the American radio and television networks refused to play positive music over the air. They preferred to let rap/hip-hop that began in a positive fashion to be turned into the tool of propaganda and negativity that much of it has become. Fortunately, with stations like KPFA KPFB, Berkeley and dj's like Davey D www.daveyd.com conscious rap/hiphop and issues of survival are to be found on the air. With sattelite stations like the 170 sattelite stations and the 20 or more dedicated to positive Black music, culture, talk, international affairs and history such as Power 169 "The Power" from Washington DC www.xmradio.com www.xm.com at last positive programming can be heard all over the world.

WHAT IS RASTAFARI GOING TO DO ABOUT BUILDING AN EFFECTIVE MOVEMENT

In order to build a powerful and effective world movement, we must first look at where Rastafari is on a worldwide scale: Rastafari is worldwide and althogh Rastafari can be found among the Black Africoid peoples of planet Earth, the philosophy and lifestyle can also be found among other races and groups all over the world: Hence Rastafari are in the following nations:

Canada
the United States
The Pan-Caribbean Region
Mexico
Central America
Spanish South America
Brazil
The Guianas
Africa
India/Indian Ocean
Madagascar
West Papua (where they are fighting for their lands)
Papua New Guinea
Melanesia,
Australia
Eastern Indonesia (with a large Black population)
Europe
Japan
Hawaii
The Middle East
and other places....

South Africa's Rastafari are a strong movement

Now imagine the power and influence that this group who are strategically placed can have in helping to uplift the peoples of the regions they live who are suffering at this very moment. Yet, in order to be effective, we must have a system of laws, objectives, traditions, rules and customs that we follow all over the world, in the same way that Jews, Christians, Muslims and Hindus have their own system of rules, codes and laws.

The books for these laws and rules, traditions, customs and practices already exist. We know very well that the core of Rastafari is in the ancient culture, customs, religion of the Ethiopians and before them the Cushites and Khemites. The first Ethiopian Dynasty is said to have come from Cush (Sudan) and the first "Egyptian" Dynasty was an extension of the Cushite system of Kingship at Qutsul in Ta-Seti (Nubia-Kush...present-day Sudan).

So, we see that Cush/Nubia or today's Sudan was the core of the cultures and civilizations that became Egypt, Mesopitamia and Ethiopia. We also know for a fact that Cushite/Nubian customs and culture also spread to Mesopotamia, India, Sri Lanka, the South Pacific and the Americas (read "Susu Economics," and "A History of the African-Olmecs," pub. by www.1stbooks.com for the full history ).

Hence, when we recognize Rastafari and His Imperial Majesty we are following an ancient tradition that is over twenty thousand years old. Since the Ethiopian system of Kingship developed from the Dynasty of Arwe and Cush before and these were Cushites/Nubians from Sudan whose Pharaohs and Kings were direct representations of their Gods, then this tradition today in places like Tibet (where the Cushites of India carried Budhism)is an example of an old tradition. The recognition of Sellessi's potition as King of Kings is also part of that tradition.

Still, we must also recognize that there is a spiritual realm of our ancestors, of the elements and of the Devine Mind that existed and has always been in existence. The same power behind the atom, the power that designed the DNA, the power that animates us when we are alive, the power that is even found in the atoms of trees and stone....that power is the ultimate power in the universe.

As soon as we realize that and start understanding
the facts, the sooner we will do what Rastafari was doing when he was alive. He tried to bring Ethiopia into being a strong nation and for a while, Ethiopia was a strong power in Africa. Rastafari today must realize that His Imperial Majesty was not about letting his people stay behind. When it came to fight the Italians and stop them from using posion gas on Black people in Ethiopia, Selessi took a stand and established an alliance. When it was time to help move forward, he did exactly that.

RASTAFARI MUST MOVE FORWARD

In order to continue Rastafari's work of uplifting Black people and others who are downpressed, we must get the educatiion and skills necessary to do so. We must work to preserve the best parts of the worldwide indigenous cultures that has welcomed the Rastafari movement. If we are in Papua New Guinea, we must tell our people there that it is their duty to help make Papua New Guinea a powerful nation, help unite the rest of the Melanesian nations and help increase the populations there so they will not be overwhelmed and destroyed by the Indonesians.

If we are in the US and we notice the radio stations, cable television stations and others who pay sell-outs to promote filth and disease in the Black community, we must counter by promoting positivity and by saving to create our own stations and institutions to promote positivity. We must educate people to know what is being done to their mind.

If we are in India among the Black Untouchables/Dalits, the Oaran or the Tribals, we must use Rastafari there to help uplift these folks and show them their connections to Murugu, the elemental force of East Africa and Murugan the Diety recognized by some of the People of India. We must remind them of their origins and teach them the truth so they can uplift (see National Geographic, June 2003).

We must organize economically, politically, culturally and educationally all over the world and develop or reccommend the books, religious texts, practices, habits and more so that we have a uniform and strong organization worldwide.

Rastafari dreadlocks is now a worldwide hairstyle among Blacks and it has been for tens of thousands of years. But here is a good chance to convince those who wear this hairstyle that it has nothing to do with ideologies that are against the unity of the Black man and woman, or habits that are against Black population expansion. It has to do with the dedication to the faith and the sense of pride in believing in human upliftment. It is the crown of hair that represents our oath and dedication to the cause. Yet even without dreadlocks, what matters is we believe in doing what is right and contributing to the betterment while we exist here on earth.

In retrospect, the time has come to harness the millions of Rastafari and those who believe in worldwide Black (and other peoples) mental, physical, spiritual and physical liberation. In order to be successful, we must get the tools that will help bring that liberation about. These tools are radio, newspapers, tv, satellite radio and tv programs, books, temples of worship and places to assemble, laws and traditions, codes and writings.
