Re: THE EXPERIENCE IS THE ULTIMATE EVIDENCE
In Response To: Faith ()

Binghi Haiasi

You should explain specifically how Ayinde's opinion was expressed poorly. I think that it was very clear.

I speak for myself here.
The emphasis on the divinity of Haile Selasie was an important stage of development even though many differ as to what exactly is the nature of this divinity. The emphasis of divinity occured at a time where the Black world was reeling under the effects of the Eurocentric image of God ....White Jesus?White Mary, White angels etc.Even thoug the personality is a representation of the essence, I CHOSE to focus on the essence as that is the aspect that is eternal. The physical is subject to death, the essence....to eternal life.

In my trod, i have defended fierrcely the highest divinity of Haile Selassie even though i had to perform mental acrobatics to assign Selassie perfection. After exploring seriously self and the divinity and power of self,i became more comfortable with the fact that Haile Selassie didn't have to be perfect for him to be respected and revered within the African/Rastafarian community. So i view the divinity of Haile Selassie as much as i view that divinity of self. For me its not so much about flesh and bone, but that spark of Godliness that is inherent in all individuals more so when they make a conscious effort to do to the hard work necessary to reach a high level of vibration. People have a right to believe what they see fit, based upon their own experiences/circumstances. The person who sees things a certain way has just as much rights as a person who doesn't see them that way. How can i ever define for somebody how they should see things? I have my opinion that is a result of my own experiences and to impose that on somebody else and expect them to believe my opinion purely on the strength of my words would be arrogance on my part. The experience is the evidence. So advocate faith based upon direct experience and not blind faith.

It take honesty to reason and to ruthlessly examine self. It takes integrity to pursue the truth to the highest level even when it challenges our existence. Though there will be much deabte on this topic i think that it will be beneficial (moreso to some than others) as it is good to be exposed to the full spectrum of views in order to refine and elevate one's own understanding.
