* That is an interesting analogy. However I think we as humans tend to anthropomorphize the image and likeness of our created image of "God" with our human family structure, and not only that but our cultural understandings that shape our image and likeness of "God" which generally tend to re-enforce our own ends. Monotheism I do not believe can be separated from the political machinations of man - it serves a utilitarian purpose. That can generally be gathered from viewing the historical pattern of "monotheistic" cultures. All have been very successful at uniting vast swaths of people under a central administration - our concept of God is often reflected in our government. From Akhenaton wiping out the vestiges of the local gods in Egypt to institute worship of a singular entity throughout Egypt, to the Persian Zoroastrian tradition, to Constantine's "In hoc signo vinces" rallying cry of Roman Empire to Islam to today's E Pluribus Unum all seeing eye. They all are based on a similar matrix and all exhibit a historical pattern of empire building.
