Just A Brief Piece Of History

Up to the year 1956, I can remember that there was one Rastafqri People's Movemant. At Ackee Walk in Kingston, there was a set of Rastafari youths who were in charge of teaching in the Coronation Market and so-rounding areas, they did their shopping in the market and while shopping in the market, they teach about the conditions of black people and what was done to them in slavery and so on. They used to call themselves the little black house of King David. They were people who came in from the country parts, and there were higglers who live in Kingston City. We did our shopping from all off them depends on what they have and what we needed. Some of them did not like us, but some of them were very reasonable people who also knew their bible to a certain extent, so we could reason with them, and they later called us their brethren since that was the kind of language we spoke to them sisters and brothers.
By 1957, on the Ackee walk section of what was then called Kingston Pen, which is where Tivoli Gardens now sits, a brother who we called brother EDDIE, began to assemble some black people at his place there, and they were playing the Kumina drums there on a daily basis, and blowing the Conk shells certain hour of the day, but we did not go over their, because we did not eat conk, since the bible said that it was unclean, and there were other things also which we did not eat for the same reason. The gathering continue to grow until by 1958, they had what was called a Rastafari Convention which brought about large gathering of people, some were Rastas and some wer not, the newa paper people were there and all manner of Journalistic people were also there, and various kinds of black people, since it was exciting, so people who were not afraid to go down to Ackee walk, which was a captured slum dwelling, came to see what they could sse.
When the convention ended, brother Eddie, led a march to what was then called Queen Victoria Park, which was considered a violatation by the police and government, at that time, there was the Queen Victoria Statute in the middle of King Street in the park, it was very early in the morning about 4.30 or 5am, one brother who's name was brother Hill, who have long passed away, climbed that statute and used a hammer which he had, and break of the fingers of that statute, and the police became mad and beat as many as they could, breaking legs and hands as much as they could. Brother Eddie got broken bones and was locked up and tried in court, and later take on the name Prince Emanuel which he was worthy of, after how he was treated by Babylon. And so, that was the beginging of the Bobo Shanty movemant as we know it today. So, first it was just the Rastafari Movemant and then we get the Bobo Shanty movemant.
Later on in the year 1968, a brother who I grow up with for a few years, who was called Doctor as a child, became Gad when he established the Twelve Tribes of Isreal. Since we were living in the same yard, which was called {Wonder why}. He later became involved in the Ethiopian World Federation Inc. and when he was tired of that, established what is now called, the Twelve Tribes of Israel, which involved all races of people, and which is well known today even as we speak. Presently, the three groups are well known today, and each group has their own rules and regulations, so, there you have it, we have various groups and we do different things. It is the same situation in Mama Africa,, and that is why our children needs to be protected from other disasters which are lurking to consume them.
