are we REALLY talking about autism?
IMO, the topic seems to be buying into notions presented, WHATEVER they may be.
The Amish are good examples of separatists who realize the folly of many technological and medical "advances". But just like the rest of the world, their lifestyle is being slowly but surely infiltrated and they are slowly becoming more worldly.
Not so far from me in Amish land, they have a Walmart that actually has parking area for their horse-drawn carriages but you can see by their shopping habits that they are assimilating.
You can tell that the youth are rejecting the old ways. But its a 50 year plan anyway. Their grandchildren will be part of the Borg collective just like everyone else.
Its sad but its the reality the the entire world.
The reasons are simple. They are european and xtianized. So they have been indoctrinated with ethnocentrism and xenophobia and male supremacy like everyone else.
Those exposed to television and other media get a steady dose of fear and hatred of "savage negroes" and "merciless moslems" just like everyone else.
They are one of the last pockets of 'resistance' amongst europeans.
