cant speak for grameen - but there are some models of micro-finance that are working. the most persistent problem is that people that receive loans and engage in their small business have no markets outside of their location. opening up global markets for these folks is one of the surest ways for them to increase their livelihood - and this is especially applicable for the handicraft sector. i think the approach is good, however with out markets, no mater the amount of money that is input into these businesses, they wont work
