Pubic Lice

"Pubic lice (figure 3), also known as crab lice, infest widely-spaced coarse hair in the pubic area in adults or eye lashes in children. Transmission in adults is usually by sexual contact. Diagnosis is based on finding lice or nits in the infested area; crab lice may be difficult to see at the base of the hair. The pubic area is treated in the same manner as the infested head. Nits and lice may be removed from eye lashes with forceps. Ointments with physostigmine (0.25%) or yellow mercury oxide are effective."

Knowledge isn't the digestion and regurgitation of someone else's interpretation of the available facts/evidence: For instance the scientists give as an explanation for the presence of Gorilla lice in human pubic hair the result of sharing sleeping quarters with Gorillas; well I'd like to know why is it that they do not also carry the parasites of all those other animals whose skins were used to adorn themselves? most especially the pubic area. Also, is anyone aware of a public lice infestation among the Himba? I read somewhere where they do not wash their bodies but rather cover it with ochre and some binding agent. The Himba along with the Khoisan are some of the oldest hominids on the planet; but hair on their bodies is almost non-existent. I have heard of pubic lice infestations in Northern Africa.

Another fact that seems overlooked is the most important reason the parasite attaches itself to the host; Sustenance. What made the human blood, once again, attractive to the Gorilla parasite?
