In the year 1896 when the Battle of Adwa took place, between Italy and Ethiopia, Europeans had already invaded the great continent of Mama Africa, and robbed our continent by violence and aggravation, by taking over the African social, cultural and governmental system of governing, and changed it to European system of divide and rule, with brutality and shackles against African people. They had already established their slave trading activities and were brutalizing African people, across the middle passage as their livelihood or their profession.
They had taken control of every other parts of Mama Africa, except Ethiopia which they were not able to conquer, because it was not meant to be. Ten or eleven years before the Battle of Adwa, the European conference in West Berlin had already taken place where and when they scrambled Africa among themselves. As a criminal result of the scramble of Mama Africa among themselves, Eritrea and a portion of Somaliland became colonies of Italy, which were really stolen properties from the continent of Africa.
Greed is really a very dangerous quality and is a very bad influence to those who cu;tivate it. In 1896 when the Battle of Adwa took place, it took place, it took place because Italy refused to be satisfied, with the territories of Mama Africa which they had already stolen, as well as the people of African origin who were still in shackles, under the slave trading system which they produced and continued to cultivate. So, because of their greedy attitudes, they invaded Ethiopia in 1896 and was defeated under the united principle of self defence, by the Ethiopian people. And to think that greed had taken over their minds and spirit so much, that forty years after their defeat in the Battle of Adwa in 1896, they were tempted to invade Ethiopia again in 1934-35, and carried out a great slaughter of Ethiopian people in all walks of life.
We have no doubt that Europeans intention is to try their best to colonise Mama Africa again even as we reason with each other, it is therefore, of very great importance, that we as African people, do not put out trust in Europeans, however smooth they may talk to you, and regardless of how many attractive gifts they may bring into your gates are villges, do not put your trust in them, you must all get up stand up, stand up for your rights, and be very alert in you dealings with Europeans as you live from day to day. The journey of life continues. Take the best care of yourselves and your people.
