Small point, but really shoes are *products of* technology. Shoes are not really necessary in (eg) Georgetown Guyana, many yutes grow up walking the concrete with no shoes and end up with very tough calloused feet that could pretty much walk across broken glass unharmed (illustrating your point). But shoes or better yet boots would be necessary if you trodding through the interior of Guyana because you really don't want to step on a poisonous snake (not that boots would help you if is a bushmaster - run for your life and good luck cos dem tings can move faster than a man and they will actually chase you! But luckily my friend from the Macushi people who was bitten by one knows this one tree the bark from which is an antidote and there happened to be one nearby).
Similarly it's not a good idea to swim in some of the rivers and creeks if you have an open wound because they full up of pirai (piranha). And if the flooding continues (accentuated by our criminal, racist and utterly incompetent government's failure to do a damn thing to prevent/alleviate it) you won't want to be swimming through that filthy disease infested water either.
More to the subject... maybe some of the disagreements here stem from a lack of a common definition of 'technology' and 'politics'... maybe you and some of your detractors have different definitions of these things. To I, even non-human primates have technology and politics. Eg. chimps using a stick to dig out termites is technology, two groups of chimps fighting over available resources is politics.
Lastly, and I hope de I don't take this the wrong way... I think sometimes the good points you make get obscured by a manner which can SOMETIMES COME ACROSS AS arrogant and/or patronizing, like "how can you be so stupid as to not immediately get my point"? I may have to 'take the beam out of my own eye' a bit there as I'm known for my sarcastic comments... anyway it's all a matter of perception... but all I'm trying to say is, a little more patience never hurt anyone, seen?
Ites, gotta go, I-spect
